LETTER OF COMMENDATION FROM TRUDIE KIBBIE REED, Ed.D
May 16, 2009

P.O.Box N-4511

Dear Dr. Deveaux:
I cannot express in words how truly touched I was by your address to the 2009 graduating class of the GREAT Bethune-Cookman University. It was an honor and delight to have you here as our special guest and friend and I thank you for joining us on this very special occasion. I enjoyed hearing you speak and was moved by your words. Your message for the graduates to "make your test your testimony" was inspirational and motivating and truly a message that our graduating class will always remember, even as they depart from this institution and enter the world to serve and uphold the legacy of Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune. I sincerely thank you for making the Service of Commencement, on Saturday, May 9, 2009, a memorable event and for sharing with us in this momentous and scared tradition.
In a quote from Mark Twain, the author encourages us to "Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too, can become great." As one who is really great, this is truly what you have done for the 2009 graduating class, and newest alumni of Bethune-Cookman University. You have inspired them to go out into the world and become truly great, as you have done and so eloquently demonstrated throughout your career, your everyday life, and here at Bethune-Cookman University. Thank you for this encouragement and for your dynamic and enthralling speech which will not be forgotten.
Once again, thank you for your time, gracious company, and inspiring words. You are truly a blessing to Bethune-Cookman University, and we look forward to working with you again moving forward.
Sincerely,
Trudie Kibbie Reed, Ed.D.
